Exploring Vocabulary
I love to hear the thoughts and expressions you articulate as you discover more about the world. At this morning’s breakfast, it was no different. When you picked up the cereal box you exclaimed “There is plenty left. Plenty means lots, right mom?” You sure know how to impress the mama! Then you said “I might be courageous. Courageous means angry, right mom?” I could just imagine you watching a movie where some animated character was getting pumped up to be brave and you deducted it to mean he was mad. Fun teaching moments at the table, but most of your learning you picked up from everyday life as your brilliant mind made connections and used your learning.

Pleas in Prayer
Myles continues to utter the loveliest prayers. His wording is so adorable I want to rush to the computer and type it here but after every family prayer and blessing on the food much needs to be done and the majority of the tasks are for the mother.
So in these wee hours of the morning while everyone else is still asleep I’m trying to recall the exact wording of such precious moments during heart-felt prayer. His phrases are so unique; you know he isn’t getting them from anyone else but that he is thinking through what he wants to say.
“…Please bless Jesus…We love Jesus…Bless the prophet to not die…Help us buy a house and that it won’t cost very much money…Help me to get wood so I can build a tree house and that it will cost one dollar or one penny...”
He prays a lot. Every time he needs help. I often see him bowing his head, folding his arms and closing his eyes on the side of the room for a quick cry for help. When I start to get impatient with one of the kids he lets me know that he just prayed that I would be nice. Sometimes he doesn’t tell me until I already got totally mad and then apologized. He softly squeaks out that he prayed that I wouldn’t get mad but it didn’t work. I know I can learn to be a more patient and loving mother especially with Myles praying for my success in this most desired outcome.

Peace like a River
Dear Myles,
I got up an hour early this morning to study my scriptures and write in my journal. As I was reading in 1 Nephi 20:18 my thoughts turned to you and how peaceful you are. “Peace like a river” is promised to all that choose the right.
You are such a righteous child. Right now you are discovering the benefits of telling the truth. I can see that you get personal satisfaction out of making that right choice.
One time, a year or more ago, when I was reading the scriptures to the family, you and Ron coined the letter’s “CTB” standing for “Choose the Bad” for those that were wicked. We still refer to those making wrong choices as “CTB.”
I’m so grateful for the peace and love you bring into my life. So many thoughts and memories of you are flooding my mind this morning. Thank you for being such a blessing in my life. I love you.

King to Baby Sister
Myles was talking and singing to the baby today. When I came up to them he said "She wants me to be a king. Because I said 'If you want me to be a king, hold my finger' and she's holding my finger."

Power of Prayer
I keep praying that our baby girl won’t arrive until Curtis arrives. But in Myles’ prayers, he prays that “the baby girl will come and daddy will come from Oregon and we can get a new house.” So I hope his prayers that the baby comes quickly don’t outweigh mine that she holds on. This last week I have had some real contractions occasionally.
He often says in his prayers: "please bless that Sterling can be a kid (instead of a baby), the baby girl can be born, I can be big, and Ron can be reverent." I've tried to explain to him that if he knows that Ron had his eyes open that that must mean he did.

Prayers
Myles often prays now that “Sterling can turn into a kid and I can get big.” As if they weren’t growing up so fast already!!!

Daddy’s Buddy
Myles is Dad’s shadow. He follows him around everywhere and wants to help him with everything. It doesn’t matter what dad’s doing, it sounds like a great time to Myles.
Myles also insists that daddy gives him a hug and kiss before going to work. Myles often reminds him not to forget. Sometimes Myles runs outside just after Curtis leaves to ask for one more. Daddy could do no wrong in Myles’ eyes. I can tell Curtis appreciates the adoration and attention.
When Curtis mows the lawn, Myles pushes his dump truck next to him. He says he’s helping daddy cut the grass. He’s learning the value of good, hard work. Curtis thinks it’s so much more enjoyable to do his chores with his buddy.
